POSITION OVERVIEW
The Boat Detailer plays a vital role in ensuring every vessel is presented to showroom and delivery standards. This position is responsible for the thorough cleaning and detailing of boats, both interior and exterior, including washing, waxing, polishing, and applying protective coatings to maintain a professional finish. Interior tasks include upholstery care, vacuuming, glass cleaning, and compartment detailing. In addition to cosmetic care, the Boat Detailer supports the service team by preparing boats for customer delivery, events, and display. This role also requires maintaining a clean and organized work area, properly caring for tools and supplies, and adhering to all safety protocols. An eye for detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to customer satisfaction are essential in ensuring that every boat reflects the highest quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitieS
- Clean and detail boats (interior and exterior) to showroom and delivery standards.
- Wash, wax, polish, and buff hulls and surfaces as required.
- Perform interior cleaning, including vacuuming, upholstery care, glass, and compartment cleaning.
- Apply protective coatings to maintain boat finishes.
- Inspect boats for cosmetic defects and report issues to the service manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the detailing area, tools, and supplies.
- Assist with preparing boats for customer delivery and special events.
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in marine technology or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a service writer or service advisor role, preferably in the marine or automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of marine systems and repair processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using service management software and basic computer applications.
- Knowledge of boating safety and regulations is an advantage.
